The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that there will be no record-breaking winter in Pakistan this year. The department rejected online claims about an extremely cold season, calling them baseless and misleading.

According to the Met Office, the upcoming winter from December to February will bring normal or slightly above-normal temperatures across most parts of the country. The PMD stated that both rainfall and snowfall are expected to remain close to the usual averages.

Officials explained that occasional cold spells could occur due to western weather systems, but no unusual or extreme drop in temperature is expected. They said that global weather patterns, including the La Niña effect, point to a stable and milder winter this year.

The department also advised the public to rely only on official forecasts instead of unverified social media predictions. False claims about harsh weather, they said, can create unnecessary panic among people.

Experts from the PMD further mentioned that this year’s weather indicators do not match the trends seen during historically cold winters. Instead, Pakistan will likely experience moderate temperatures and regular winter conditions.

The Met Office confirmed it will continue to monitor regional climate changes and provide regular updates if any changes are detected.
