PMD Issues Advisory for Widespread Rain, Windstorms, and Hailstorms Across Pakistan from May 8 to 12
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory forecasting widespread rain, windstorms, and isolated hailstorms across Pakistan from May 8 to 12. The department has warned the public and local authorities to remain vigilant as the weather system is expected to bring heavy downpours and hailstorms in some areas.

Weather Forecast and Regional Impact
The system is initially expected to impact the upper and central parts of the country, spreading towards the southern regions as it progresses. The PMD anticipates strong winds, which could affect infrastructure such as power lines, trees, and solar panels. Farmers are advised to adjust their harvesting schedules, especially in wheat-growing areas, to align with the weather conditions.
Kashmir
The regions of Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Poonch in Kashmir are likely to receive intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms from May 8 to 12.
Gilgit-Baltistan
Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghanche, and Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan will experience rainfall and thunderstorms during the same period.
Islamabad and Punjab
Islamabad and parts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, and Lahore, are expected to face thunderstorms and gusty winds from the night of May 7 to May 11, with isolated hailstorms likely. Southern Punjab districts such as Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan will see similar weather conditions between May 8 and 10.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Heavy showers and hailstorms are forecast for Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and nearby areas from May 7 to May 12. Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including D.I. Khan and Waziristan, is expected to be affected between May 8 and 10.
Balochistan
Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, and Lasbella in Balochistan are set to experience rain from May 8 to 10.
Sindh
Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar in Sindh are predicted to have thunderstorms and moderate rainfall from the evening of May 8 to May 10.

The PMD has advised all relevant authorities to implement precautionary measures to minimize the potential impact of the adverse weather. Authorities are urged to ensure emergency response readiness and protect vulnerable infrastructure.
