PM Shehbaz to Visit Russia for SCO Summit in November

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit Russia in November to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting. The event will bring together leaders from all SCO member states to discuss key regional and economic matters.

According to official sources, the SCO Prime Ministers’ Council meeting will be hosted in Russia, where heads of government will review cooperation in trade, investment, and development. PM Shehbaz Sharif will represent Pakistan and deliver an address highlighting the country’s priorities in expanding economic and trade ties within the region.

The prime minister is expected to emphasize the importance of strengthening partnerships among SCO nations, particularly in areas such as energy, connectivity, and infrastructure. Pakistan views the SCO as an important platform for enhancing regional cooperation and addressing common challenges.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a major regional bloc that includes China, Russia, Pakistan, India, and Central Asian states. It serves as a forum for political, security, and economic collaboration. Over the years, Pakistan has actively engaged in SCO initiatives, considering them vital for both national and regional growth.

During the upcoming meeting, leaders will also exchange views on global and regional developments. Economic integration and mutual investment opportunities are likely to remain at the forefront of discussions. Officials suggest that Pakistan will use the occasion to invite greater investment and explore projects in energy, infrastructure, and technology sectors.

Diplomatic analysts believe PM Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the SCO meeting could help Pakistan boost its regional standing and deepen cooperation with Russia and other member states. The visit is also seen as a chance to underline Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and regional peace.

Pakistan’s engagement with global and regional forums has been gaining momentum in recent months. Alongside political diplomacy, cultural and soft-power contributions are also receiving attention. Notably, public figures like Fawad Khan have played a bold role in showcasing Pakistan’s talent and influence, reflecting the country’s growing international profile.

The SCO meeting in November is expected to set the stage for deeper economic and political collaboration among its member states. For Pakistan, it presents an important opportunity to strengthen ties with regional partners and reaffirm its role as an active participant in shaping regional policies.
