Three-day funeral ceremonies for President Raisi and his Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, commenced today. The Iranian president’s body has already arrived in Tehran. The funeral procession began this morning in Tabriz and will proceed to the holy city of Qom. However, the bodies will remain in Tehran until May 22.

The president’s body will then be moved to the historic Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad, where Ayatollah Khamenei will lead the prayers, according to Mehr News.
President Ebrahim Raisi was pronounced dead on Monday morning following a helicopter crash after a challenging landing during a visit to the country’s northwest.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and East Azarbaijan Province’s Governor Malek Rahmati were also aboard the helicopter. President Raisi was en route to Tabriz City after inaugurating a dam at the Azerbaijan border.
A massive search operation was conducted earlier, with Iran’s Red Crescent head, Pir Hossein Kolivand, stating to the media that the situation appeared grim.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
