Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Saudi Arabia requires a large number of skilled and highly trained professionals, and his government will work to ensure that Pakistani youth benefit from these employment opportunities.
Addressing the launch ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2025 in Islamabad, the premier said that during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, he was briefed on the Kingdom’s rapid progress in artificial intelligence and modern technologies. He revealed that Saudi authorities have offered access to these advanced facilities free of cost for millions of Pakistani students, with discussions already underway to finalize cooperation soon.
PM Shehbaz thanked Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his commitment to economic and technological transformation under Vision 2030. He added that Saudi Arabia’s preparations for hosting Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034 will require a strong workforce equipped with modern skills — and Pakistan aims to play a leading role in fulfilling that demand.
He stressed that thousands of Pakistani youth will be sent to Saudi Arabia to secure better employment and contribute to national development.
The prime minister also acknowledged students and teachers for their patience, mentioning that the laptop scheme — first introduced in 2011 — faced delays this year due to logo redesigning. He confirmed that 100,000 laptops will now be distributed strictly on merit, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting education, technology, and AI advancement for a brighter future.
