Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the residence of estranged PML-N leader Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday, extending a formal invitation for him to rejoin the party

This marked their first meeting since September 7, 2024, when PM Sharif had offered condolences on the passing of Nisar’s sister. During the latest interaction, the premier checked on Nisar’s health and discussed the prospect of his political return. In response, Nisar appreciated the gesture but said he would consider the offer after recovering and consulting with close aides.

A veteran of the PML-N for over three decades, Nisar parted ways with the party in 2018, citing his principles and opposition to politics driven by power. He contested the 2018 general elections independently and won a provincial seat from PP-10 Rawalpindi, though he delayed taking his oath until 2021, citing rigging in the NA-59 National Assembly race. Despite overtures from PTI, he has maintained his independent status, referencing his long-standing personal relationship with Imran Khan.
