PM Sharif praised COAS Asim Munir shortly after the country’s finance czar Ishaq Dar announced that Saudi Arabia and the UAE had assured a global lender of additional loans to Islamabad.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stated that Islamabad will receive much-needed funds, as one of the IMF’s final requirements was assurances from friendly countries to bridge the external financing gap.

While the government shared positive economic news, the International Monetary Fund said it was still waiting for “necessary financing assurances” for a successful conclusion of the review talks, dampening hopes for a deal until Pakistan arranges the remaining $3 billion.
The IMF Mission Chief to Pakistan, Nathan Porter, said in a statement that the global lender “looks forward to obtaining the necessary financing assurances as soon as possible to pave the way for the successful completion of the 9th EFF (Extended Fund Facility) review.”
The global lender was seeking confirmation for a total of $6 billion in loans that Pakistan urgently requires to bridge the external financing gap. According to them, the government is working hard to secure commitments for the remaining $3 billion by next week.
Porter praised “the recent announcement of significant financial support to Pakistan from key bilateral partners,” implying that the UAE and Saudi Arabia have confirmed their commitments.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
