Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the phone today, conveying Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the recent US strikes on Iran.
During the call, Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people and government, offering condolences over the loss of lives and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The Prime Minister raised serious concerns over the strikes, noting that they targeted facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards, which he described as a grave violation of international law and the IAEA Statute.
Acknowledging Iran’s inherent right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Shehbaz Sharif stressed the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve tensions. He also urged for collective efforts to de-escalate the situation.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to play a constructive role, Shehbaz assured Pakistan’s readiness to contribute to peace efforts.
In response, President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its principled support, expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Pakistani government, its people, and military leadership for their solidarity with Iran.
Both leaders underscored the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah during this challenging period and agreed to maintain close contact going forward.
