Opening his speech, PM Shehbaz expressed his honor in addressing the UNGA for the second time as the prime minister of a country that has always been an active participant in the assembly. He recalled that Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, committed to upholding UN resolutions, a promise that remains steadfast.

The Prime Minister highlighted the multitude of global challenges currently faced, including Israel’s devastating war in Gaza, ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, Africa, and Asia, rising geopolitical tensions, increasing terrorism, widespread poverty, crippling debt, and the adverse effects of climate change. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, describing the situation as a “systematic slaughter” and “bloodshed” perpetrated by the Israeli military, asserting that it goes beyond mere conflict. He emphasized the urgent need for action to address the suffering of innocent Palestinians, urging the international community to stand in solidarity with them.
