PM Shehbaz Attends ECO Summit 2025 in Azerbaijan

Shusha, Azerbaijan – PM Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Shusha, Karabakh, Azerbaijan, for a two-day official visit. He is attending the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, which is taking place in Khankendi.

Upon arrival, PM Shehbaz was warmly received by Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Adil Karmali and other senior officials. He is leading a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

The summit, which starts today, is being held under the theme “A New ECO Vision for a Sustainable, Environmentally Resilient Future.” According to the Foreign Office, PM Shehbaz will share Pakistan’s views on regional and global issues during his address.

He will highlight Pakistan’s commitment to ECO Vision 2025, which focuses on regional cooperation in trade, transport, and energy. The prime minister will also emphasize the need for climate resilience and sustainable growth in the region.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Shehbaz is expected to meet other ECO leaders. These meetings aim to strengthen regional partnerships and explore new opportunities for development.

Pakistan is a founding member of the ECO, originally formed as the Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD) in 1964 with Iran and Turkiye. The organization now includes 10 member states and plays a key role in promoting trade and economic ties across the region.

The ECO Summit serves as an important platform for economic collaboration and policy coordination among member countries.
