The approval came during a high-level review meeting chaired by the prime minister, where the policy framework and future roadmap were discussed in detail.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need for a well-structured and forward-looking approach to boost halal meat exports. He directed relevant authorities to develop and submit a comprehensive three-year action plan within the next two weeks. This strategy is expected to outline clear, practical steps aimed at increasing export volumes and improving Pakistan’s competitiveness in international markets.
The prime minister stressed that a detailed and realistic strategy is crucial for expanding Pakistan’s share in the rapidly growing global halal meat market. He noted that without long-term planning and effective implementation, the country would struggle to capitalize on existing opportunities despite strong demand worldwide.
Prime Minister Sharif also instructed the committee tasked with expanding halal meat exports to present viable and actionable proposals. These recommendations should focus on enhancing production capacity, improving supply chains, and addressing factors that directly affect quality and export readiness.
Highlighting the importance of international standards, the prime minister called for special measures to raise halal meat production in line with global requirements. He emphasized that Pakistan must ensure its products meet international quality benchmarks and remain competitive with regional producers operating in the same market.
In addition, Prime Minister Sharif assured full government support for the international certification of slaughterhouses across the country.
