ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended heartfelt congratulations to Field Marshal Asim Munir on assuming the role of Pakistan’s first-ever Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), calling the appointment a major step toward strengthening the country’s security framework.
The prime minister conveyed his best wishes to Field Marshal Asim Munir and emphasized that the creation of the CDF post aligns with the evolving demands of modern warfare. He noted that Pakistan’s defence structure would become more robust and better prepared to counter contemporary threats under this new command arrangement.
Reflecting on past military achievements, PM Shehbaz highlighted the decisive military response delivered under Asim Munir’s leadership during the recent conflict with India in May. He praised the operation, recalling that the success of “Marka-e-Haq” brought global recognition to Pakistan and reinforced the country’s military reputation. According to the prime minister, these accomplishments demonstrated the field marshal’s strategic skill and the armed forces’ capability to defend the nation with courage and precision.
The premier also congratulated Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu on receiving a two-year extension in service. Commending the air chief’s leadership, PM Shehbaz noted that the Pakistan Air Force, under his command, displayed outstanding professionalism and successfully neutralized enemy aircraft during the same conflict. He said these achievements sent a strong message to the adversary and boosted national morale.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to national unity, PM Shehbaz stated that all state institutions would continue to work in harmony for Pakistan’s defence, stability, and progress. He expressed confidence that collaborative efforts between the armed forces and civilian leadership would ensure the country remains secure.
Concluding his remarks, the prime minister vowed that the government, along with the military leadership, would make Pakistan’s defence “unbreakable and undefeatable.”
