PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan Vow to Strengthen Pakistan-Türkiye Ties
During his official two-day visit to Türkiye, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The key meeting took place at the historic Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul, where both leaders reviewed all aspects of bilateral ties and pledged to elevate their strategic partnership to new heights.
The Pakistani delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Gen Syed Asim Munir, Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. President Erdogan hosted a formal dinner in honor of the visiting delegation.
PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s unwavering support amid recent regional and global challenges, noting that the principled stance and goodwill of the Turkish people remain a source of strength for Pakistan. He also praised the patriotism of the Pakistani nation and the sacrifices of its armed forces in safeguarding the country.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation, increasing bilateral investments, and pursuing joint ventures. Priority sectors identified for collaboration include renewable energy, information technology, defense production, infrastructure development, and agriculture.
Addressing regional humanitarian concerns, the leaders voiced deep worry over the situation in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Palestinians. Türkiye also reaffirmed its steadfast support for Pakistan’s position on the Kashmir dispute.
In related developments, Türkiye’s Defence Minister Yasar Guler met with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to discuss matters of mutual interest and the strengthening of fraternal ties. The Commander of the Turkish Land Forces was present at the meeting.
