PM Sharif Meets President Xi To Discuss Bilateral And Regional Issues

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Tuesday. The meeting focused on deepening the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.

PM Sharif led a high-level delegation, including senior ministers and military officials. He praised China’s success in lifting 800 million people out of poverty, calling it a historic achievement. He highlighted the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as a key example of China’s vision.

During the talks, PM Sharif expressed gratitude for China’s continued support, especially through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He described CPEC as a flagship project that strengthens the bilateral ties between the two countries.

The meeting followed PM Sharif’s speech at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin. At the summit, he emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for regional peace and stability. PM Sharif called on SCO members to respect sovereignty and work together on fair water resource management.

PM Sharif also congratulated Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on their national days during the summit. He strongly condemned terrorism and those who use it for political gains. He highlighted foreign involvement in recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, including the Jafar Express train incident.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of shared prosperity and peace in the region. PM Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with China for mutual growth and regional stability.

This meeting highlights the strong bond between Pakistan and China and their shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous future.
