PM Sharif Extends Greetings As Hindus Celebrate Diwali Across Pakistan

The Hindu community across Pakistan and around the world is celebrating Diwali, the festival of lights, with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit. Temples in Sindh, southern Punjab, and other regions were decorated with colorful lights as families gathered for prayers, exchanged sweets, and wished for peace and prosperity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, extended warm greetings to the Hindu community on this joyous occasion. The Sindh government also announced a public holiday for Hindu citizens to mark the festival.

In his message, PM Sharif said Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and hope over despair. He highlighted that Pakistan’s religious diversity strengthens its unity and cultural richness. PM Sharif appreciated the Hindu community’s contribution to the country’s social, political, and economic growth. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the rights of all citizens, as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

PM Sharif expressed hope that the festival would promote peace, harmony, and brotherhood among all communities in Pakistan. He emphasized that respect and equality for every citizen are essential to national progress.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also conveyed her greetings, saying Diwali’s light spreads a message of peace and goodwill. She announced the launch of a “Special Minority Card” to provide various facilities to minority groups. Maryam Nawaz also revealed plans for a “Minority Virtual Police Station” under the Safe Punjab Vision to ensure quick access to justice for minorities.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari shared similar sentiments, saying Diwali reminds everyone that light always overcomes darkness. He reiterated his vision of a progressive Pakistan where all religions coexist in peace and mutual respect.

Major Diwali celebrations were held at the Governor House in Karachi, attended by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori. The event featured prayers, a cake-cutting ceremony, and special performances celebrating unity, peace, and the rich cultural fabric of Pakistan.
