Completed in just 9 months, the 5.4-kilometer, 1350-meter overhead bridge project cost over Rs. 6 billion. Its purpose is to provide relief to commuters and tourists by reducing traffic.

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the positive impact of the bypass, especially in alleviating traffic issues in Bhara Kahu, despite the initial challenges faced during land acquisition.

However, the Bhara Kahu Bypass has a history of poor quality and execution. Recently, an accident at the construction site raised concerns about safety. Videos surfaced showing a section of the structure falling onto a car, causing damage and injuries. This incident added to the public’s dissatisfaction with the project’s handling.

The bypass has faced previous failures, including two major accidents in March 2023, one involving a shuttering collapse and the other a section of the bridge crumbling.

With the inauguration completed, the public hopes for a better future for the bypass and its smooth operation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
