PM Directs Power Division To Prepare Reform Plan For Industry And Agriculture

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Power Division to prepare a comprehensive reform package aimed at improving electricity efficiency for industry and agriculture. The move is part of the government’s strategy to boost productivity and support economic growth.

Chairing a high-level review meeting in Islamabad, the Prime Minister emphasized that facilitating manufacturers, investors, and farmers is a top priority. He asked the Power Division to propose practical policy recommendations to ensure sustainable industrial development and better utilization of electricity.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that increasing electricity generation alone is not enough. Power must be used efficiently to reduce waste and enhance industrial and agricultural output. Effective energy management, he added, can improve exports, industrial productivity, and crop yields.

Officials from the Power Division briefed the Prime Minister on the proposed reform and efficiency package. The plan focuses on improving electricity supply to industrial sectors and minimizing losses in the national grid. It also includes recommendations to provide reliable power to manufacturers and affordable energy for farmers.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Leghari, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Advisor on Industry Haroon Akhtar, and other senior officials.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed that energy efficiency is crucial for economic revival and job creation. He said the government is committed to ensuring that electricity is directed toward productive uses, helping industries grow and supporting agricultural development.
