Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday ordered the immediate dissolution of the Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak PWD) due to prolonged poor performance and corruption.
This directive was issued during a high-level meeting focused on reducing government expenditures and streamlining its infrastructure, as stated by the PM Office Media Wing.

The prime minister noted Pak PWD’s failure to achieve its objectives and requested alternative mechanisms for the development projects initially assigned to Pak PWD.
The meeting included Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, PM’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, Minister of State for Finance, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Jehanzeb Khan, and other senior officials.
The prime minister was briefed on a report by a committee led by the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, which recommended the abolishment of certain government entities and the merger of others. The prime minister instructed the committee to finalize further recommendations.
