The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its positive trend against the US dollar on Friday, October 9, 2026. The local currency recorded its 258th consecutive daily gain against the dollar.
According to the latest exchange rate data, PKR closed at 277.00 against the US dollar. It gained one paisa during the trading session.
The rupee has maintained its upward movement against the dollar since December 25, 2025. This marks an extended period of consecutive daily gains against the American currency.
However, the rupee recorded mixed results against other major international currencies. It weakened against the British pound, euro, Australian dollar, and Canadian dollar during the latest session.
PKR Exchange Rate Against Major Currencies
The Pakistani rupee lost Rs. 1.30 against the British pound. The pound’s exchange rate reached approximately Rs. 366.85.
Against the euro, the rupee declined by around Rs. 1.05. The euro closed at approximately Rs. 310.95.
The local currency also weakened against the Australian dollar. It lost around 61 paisas, taking the Australian dollar’s rate to approximately Rs. 193.31.
Meanwhile, the Canadian dollar gained around 41 paisas against PKR. Its exchange rate increased to approximately Rs. 194.75.
These movements show that the rupee’s performance varied across international currencies. While it continued gaining against the US dollar, it faced losses against several other major currencies.
Rupee Movement Against Gulf Currencies
The rupee also recorded a small gain against the United Arab Emirates dirham. It strengthened by approximately one paisa during the latest trading session.
The dirham closed at around Rs. 75.42, according to the reported exchange rate data.
Meanwhile, PKR remained broadly stable against the Saudi riyal. The currency closed at approximately Rs. 73.79.
The UAE dirham and Saudi riyal are important currencies for Pakistan because of trade, travel, and overseas remittances. Many Pakistanis working in Gulf countries regularly send money home.
Other Currency Exchange Rates
The rupee also weakened slightly against the Malaysian ringgit and Chinese yuan. The Malaysian ringgit reached approximately Rs. 67.79, while the Chinese yuan closed at around Rs. 41.39.
These changes reflect different movements across the foreign exchange market. The rupee’s daily performance against individual currencies can vary depending on market conditions.
