Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily suspended its flight operations to Fujairah for a period of two days due to the prevailing security situation in the Gulf region.
In an official statement, the airline explained that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure amid increasing security concerns impacting several Gulf countries. The suspension has been implemented with immediate effect to ensure passenger safety and operational security.
A spokesperson for PIA confirmed that although flights to Fujairah have been halted, operations to Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates will continue as scheduled. Currently, Al Ain remains the only UAE destination being served by the national carrier during this temporary suspension.
Passengers have been advised to stay updated on flight schedules and contact PIA offices or helplines for assistance regarding bookings, rescheduling, or other travel-related concerns. The airline has assured full support to affected passengers during this period.
Meanwhile, a day prior to this announcement, a PIA flight operating from Fujairah to Lahore was diverted to Karachi late at night due to a technical issue encountered mid-flight.
According to airline officials, flight PK-178 developed a cabin pressure-related problem while airborne. As a safety precaution, the pilot reduced the aircraft’s altitude to 10,000 feet to stabilize the situation and ensure passenger safety.
The aircraft was later landed safely at Karachi Airport without any injuries or complications reported among passengers or crew members.
Following the incident, a team of PIA engineers immediately began repair work overnight to resolve the technical fault. Efforts were made to restore the aircraft’s operational condition and ensure it meets all safety standards before resuming service.
The airline reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and maintaining strict operational protocols.
