Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has restored direct air connectivity between Pakistan and China after suspending its Beijing operations for nearly seven months.
The national airline resumed its Islamabad-Beijing flight service on October 30, 2026. Under the renewed schedule, PIA plans to operate one direct flight every Friday.
The restored service will provide passengers with a direct travel option between the two capitals. PIA says the flights will offer convenient connections and competitive fares for people travelling between Pakistan and China.
The resumption is also expected to support travel for businesspeople, tourists, students, and other passengers who regularly travel between the two countries.
PIA Restores Weekly Islamabad-Beijing Service
PIA’s renewed schedule includes one flight every Friday between Islamabad and Beijing.
The airline had suspended its Beijing operations in April this year after repeated increases in jet fuel prices raised its operating expenses.
At the time, PIA also announced the suspension of its Kuala Lumpur flights as part of measures to control costs.
The airline said it could not transfer the full burden of rising fuel prices to passengers. It therefore decided to take administrative steps to manage its expenses.
The restoration of the Beijing route marks the return of a direct air link between Pakistan and China after the lengthy suspension.
PIA Strengthens Partnerships With Chinese Airlines
Alongside the resumption of direct flights, PIA has strengthened its cooperation with three major Chinese airlines.
These include Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, and Hainan Airlines.
The partnerships are intended to expand travel options for PIA passengers and improve connectivity to destinations across China.
Through its cooperation with Air China, passengers travelling through Beijing will be able to connect to several domestic destinations within China.
Beijing is one of China’s major aviation hubs. It provides access to a wide network of domestic routes, making it an important connection point for international travellers.
The expanded airline cooperation could make it easier for Pakistani passengers to reach Chinese cities beyond Beijing without arranging separate international travel.
Why Did PIA Suspend Beijing Flights?
PIA suspended its Beijing flights in April following repeated increases in jet fuel prices.
The airline was facing higher operating expenses and said it could not pass all the additional costs on to passengers through ticket prices.
The suspension was part of a broader effort to reduce expenses and manage the airline’s financial position.
The Kuala Lumpur route was also suspended during the same period.
With the Islamabad-Beijing service now restored, PIA has resumed an important international connection that supports travel between Pakistan and China.
What the Resumption Means for Passengers
The return of direct flights is expected to provide greater convenience for passengers travelling between Islamabad and Beijing.
Travellers will have a weekly direct service instead of relying entirely on connecting flights through other destinations.
The partnerships with Chinese airlines may also provide additional travel options for passengers heading to other cities across China.
However, passengers should check PIA’s official booking channels for the latest flight schedule, ticket prices, seat availability, and travel requirements before making plans.
The resumption of the Beijing route is part of PIA’s efforts to restore international connectivity while managing operating costs.
