PIA to Launch Lahore-Skardu and Lahore-Gilgit Flights from March 2025

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of two-way flight operations from Lahore to Skardu and Gilgit starting March 31, 2025. The initiative aims to boost tourism in northern Pakistan, offering travelers convenient access to the scenic landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to PIA, flights on the Lahore-Gilgit route will operate twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays, while Lahore-Skardu flights will be available on Thursdays and Sundays. The airline has already begun final preparations to ensure smooth operations on these routes.

PIA’s Efforts to Resume Direct Flights to the UK

In a separate development, PIA is making preparations to resume direct flight operations to the United Kingdom (UK). The airline has initiated arrangements to use Terminal 4 at London’s Heathrow Airport for its upcoming flights.

PIA management remains optimistic that the UK government will lift the ban on its operations soon. The UK’s Department for Transport (DFT) is expected to complete an audit of Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) before making a final decision.

Once the ban is lifted, PIA plans to restart direct flights from Islamabad to Manchester and London, using Boeing 777 aircraft.
