Speaking during the Senate session, the minister highlighted the government’s efforts in enacting legislation to enhance safety and regulation, aligning them with international aviation standards.

Once these legislations receive approval, it is expected to pave the way for the revival of flights to the UK. It was noted that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had previously generated a revenue of Rs. 59 billion from its UK flights, which ceased after the ban.

The suspension of flights has led to an annual revenue loss of Rs. 71 billion for the airline. PIA was prohibited from flying to European countries in 2020. Recently, Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique also expressed optimism about the resumption of PIA’s flights to the UK in the next three months, with hopes of restoring flights to EU countries and the US thereafter.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
