PIA has dismissed recent reports claiming that one of its flights faced a missile attack near Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The airline called the claims “baseless and false.”
The reports had suggested that a PIA aircraft narrowly avoided a missile incident while landing at Fujairah airport earlier this week. However, the airline clarified that no such event occurred.
In an official statement posted on X, PIA emphasized that neither the airline nor its spokesperson had issued any statement suggesting a missile threat. The airline urged the public and media outlets to avoid sharing unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.
The spokesperson added that, for the time being, PIA operations in the UAE will be limited to Al Ain. The airline assured passengers that all flights are operating safely under strict security measures.
Officials noted that the clarification comes amid a rise in misinformation on social media. PIA reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and the importance of verifying news before spreading it.
The airline further stated that it continuously monitors its international operations to ensure smooth and secure travel for passengers. Authorities confirmed that no passengers or staff were at risk during the period in question.
PIA also highlighted that emergency protocols are in place for all flights, and its teams coordinate closely with airport authorities to maintain safety standards.
The airline’s statement underscores the importance of relying on official sources for updates regarding flight operations. PIA urged travelers to follow verified announcements for accurate information about routes, schedules, and safety procedures.
