Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to resume flights to the United Kingdom after a five-year ban was officially lifted. The UK has removed Pakistan from its air safety list, allowing Pakistani airlines, including PIA, to operate in British airspace once again. This development marks a major milestone for Pakistan’s aviation sector and brings a sense of relief to passengers and the Pakistani community abroad.
The UK’s decision was announced by the British High Commission in Islamabad. High Commissioner Jane Marriott highlighted the successful cooperation between aviation experts from both Pakistan and the UK. She expressed optimism about traveling with Pakistani airlines, saying, “I look forward to traveling with Pakistani airlines.”
Following the announcement, PIA moved quickly to re-establish its flight services to the UK. In the first phase, PIA will operate three weekly flights to Manchester, using Boeing 777 aircraft. This resumption of flights is expected to boost travel between the two countries, benefiting both tourism and trade.
The lifting of the ban is a significant achievement for Pakistan’s aviation industry, which had faced severe restrictions on its operations in the UK due to safety concerns. With the ban now lifted, PIA can expand its network and offer more travel options to its passengers.
PIA has also assured its passengers that safety remains a top priority. The airline has worked diligently to meet the international aviation safety standards required by the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
As PIA resumes flights to the UK, passengers can expect reliable service and enhanced connectivity. This marks a new chapter in Pakistan’s aviation history, bringing fresh opportunities for the airline and travelers alike.
