PHF Approves Pakistan Hockey Players for Overseas Leagues

The PHF (Pakistan Hockey Federation) has granted permission to national team players to participate in overseas hockey leagues.

According to sources, several members of the Pakistan national hockey team will now feature in international leagues. Team captain Imad Butt, along with Moeen Shakeel and Ghazanfar, has already arrived in Hong Kong to compete in a league tournament.

Other players, including Sufyan Khan and Ahmed Nadeem, will play league hockey in France, while Rana Waheed has signed with a club in Germany to participate in the German league.

Sources also mentioned that discussions are ongoing for two to three additional Pakistani players to join a league competition in Australia.

Returning for National Duty

The Pakistan national hockey team is scheduled to play Pro League matches in Europe and England in June. Players currently involved in overseas leagues will return to Pakistan before the start of the national team’s Pro League training camp.

Officials from the PHF said the move is part of efforts to provide players with international exposure and improve their competitive experience ahead of major tournaments. Overseas league participation is expected to enhance skills and tactical awareness, benefiting the national team in international competitions.

Strengthening Pakistan Hockey

The PHF has recently focused on stabilizing the hockey setup in Pakistan. Administrative issues and financial disputes affected the team earlier this year. The federation is now emphasizing performance, international participation, and proper preparation for tournaments.

Players and management expressed optimism that playing in foreign leagues will improve Pakistan hockey’s overall standard. The experience gained abroad is expected to contribute positively to the national team’s performance in the Pro League and other international events.
