PHC Orders No Load Shedding at Sehri, Iftari

The Peshawar High Court has disposed of a petition challenging unscheduled load-shedding and instructed authorities to maintain uninterrupted electricity during Ramadan’s Sehri and Iftari hours.

The case was heard by a two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Fahim Wali after residents complained about persistent outages.

Petitioner’s lawyer argued that people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing severe hardship, especially while preparing meals and religious observances linked with Ramadan routines.

According to the petition, urban Peshawar areas experienced outages lasting four hours, while certain rural and suburban localities endured electricity suspensions stretching up to twenty-two hours.

During proceedings, the bench observed that provinces possessing their own electricity resources should prioritize local citizens, stressing that residents deserve primary benefit from regional power production.

After directing authorities to prevent load-shedding at critical prayer and meal times, the court formally disposed of the case, concluding proceedings without further orders.
