Petrol Prices Surge Toward Rs. 270/Liter After Government Forces Another Increase

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced another hike in petroleum prices, marking the second consecutive increase within a month.

As per the latest notification from the Finance Division, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs. 8.36 per liter, bringing it to Rs. 266.79. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has surged by Rs. 10.39 per liter, now standing at Rs. 272.98.

In the previous fortnightly review, the government had already increased petrol by Rs. 4.80 per liter and high-speed diesel by Rs. 7.95 per liter.

This latest adjustment comes amid global oil market fluctuations driven by geopolitical tensions. A 12-day conflict that began on June 13, when Israel launched strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, had pushed crude oil prices above $80 per barrel. However, prices later dipped below $70 per barrel following the announcement of a ceasefire.
