Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a major reduction in Petrol Price, offering relief to citizens across Pakistan. The government has reduced the Petrol Price by Rs80 per litre. After the cut, the new Petrol Price has been set at Rs378 per litre.
In his address to the nation, the prime minister highlighted rising global oil prices. He said that fuel costs are increasing across the region. This situation is creating pressure on households and businesses. He added that even strong economies are facing inflation challenges.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that he understands the difficulties faced by the public. He said the government is aware of the financial burden caused by rising fuel costs. The recent Petrol Price reduction is part of efforts to ease this burden.
The prime minister explained that the decision was taken after detailed consultations. Finance and petroleum officials were involved in the process. He also shared that a high-level meeting was held at the Presidency. The meeting included national leadership and all four provincial chief ministers.
Along with the Petrol Price cut, the government has announced additional financial support. Monthly subsidies have been introduced for different sectors. Small truck owners will receive Rs70,000 per month. Large trucks will get Rs80,000, while public transport operators will receive Rs100,000.
Freight vehicles will benefit from a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on fuel. Farmers have also been included in the relief plan. Small farmers will receive Rs1,500 per acre to support their agricultural activities. In addition, the government has decided not to increase economy class train fares.
The prime minister thanked provincial governments for supporting this national effort. He said cooperation between federal and provincial authorities is essential. This will help ensure that relief measures are implemented effectively.
