Peshawar secures championship title in U-16 football tournament

Peshawar’s under-16 football team clinched victory in the Chief of Army Staff Under-16 Football Tournament, defeating Malakand in the final match held at Warsak Cadet College, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Organized by Frontier Corps North Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the three-day tournament featured youth teams from six regions: Peshawar, Malakand, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Major General Anjum Riaz, Inspector General Frontier Corps North, attended the final as the chief guest, presenting trophies and awards to outstanding players and teams.

The tournament attracted considerable interest from local youth, with enthusiastic spectators filling the venue throughout the event. Many young attendees viewed the competition as a stepping stone toward potential national team selection and expressed hope for more such opportunities in the future.

“This tournament provides a platform to showcase the sporting talent of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s youth,” stated a tournament official. The event underscored the region’s commitment to developing grassroots football and nurturing promising young athletes.
