A Digital Center was inaugurated at the Business Incubation Center in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to support women’s economic empowerment. The center is part of the Digitalization for Women Economic Empowerment (D4WEE) project.
The project is funded with assistance from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The inauguration ceremony was attended by Riaz Khan Mehsud, Commissioner of Peshawar Division, who served as the chief guest. Eun Kyung Kang, Country Head of KOICA, was also present.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner Mehsud highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering women through technology and skills development. He praised KOICA for providing modern digital equipment and assured full support from local authorities to implement the project successfully.
The program follows the theme “Empower Her” and aims to provide digital skills training to 3,000 women and female students across the province. The training will help participants gain economic independence and improve access to employment opportunities.
Officials said the Digital Center will serve as a hub for skills development, technology access, and entrepreneurship support. The center will provide advanced tools and training to ensure women can compete in the digital economy.
The initiative also includes mentorship and guidance for women to start businesses and improve financial stability. Authorities stressed that the project aligns with broader goals to enhance gender equality and promote women’s participation in the workforce.
With the launch of the Digital Center, Peshawar is set to strengthen digital literacy and create sustainable economic opportunities for women. The program will be monitored to ensure maximum benefit for all participants.
