[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Tere Bin, starring Wahaj Ali and Yumna Zaidi, has enraged Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) as well. The drama sparked outrage on social media after a clickbait promo suggested Murtasim (Wahaj) and Meerab (Yumna) were having an affair.

However, due to widespread criticism, the episode was purportedly modified with “Whatsapp Quality” voiceovers. The disturbing pictures, on the other hand, remained, and PEMRA has now issued an official warning against it.

PEMRA released a press release on its official Twitter account on Friday, two days after the said episode aired on television, warning Tere Bin creators not to cease airing “inappropriate” content that violates the organization’s standards. According to the press release, “Episode 47 of Geo Entertainment channel’s TV serial Tere Bin showed inappropriate content that clearly violated PEMRA rules and the 2015 electronic media regulations.”

It also asked the creators to remove/hide the content immediately and to ensure that no comparable content is shown in any future episodes. “Strict action will be taken against the makers if any other regulation is violated in the future,” it stated.

PEMRA’s post was met with criticism on social media for being “a little too late.” “Did you just wake up now?” wrote one user. They rewrote the episode. There is no longer anything contentious. At the very least, observe it.” Others praised the social media warriors who spoke out against marital rape and its terrible portrayal on television and were successful in shifting the narrative.

Tere Bin, directed by Siraj ul Haq, also has key performances by Bushra Ansari, Sabeena Farooq, Sohail Sameer, and Hira Soomro.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
