[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Islamabad: The ruling coalition, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), appears to be split into two camps over holding talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), according to reports on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of 13 political parties, to discuss the country’s political situation and Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) bid to bring both sides to the negotiating table.
During the huddle, the parties disagreed about holding talks with the opposition party. Some parties insisted that political forces should not obstruct dialogue channels, while others claimed that PTI Chairman Imran Khan could not be trusted.

On the one hand, the JUI-F and Jamhoori Watan Party are said to be vehemently opposed to the idea, while the Bilawal Bhutto Zardari-led Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is said to be in favour of talks with the opposition party on a national issue.
It is worth noting that both the PPP and the PTI formed three-member committees to hold political dialogue last week.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) formed a three-member committee, comprised of Senator Yousuf Raza Gillani, Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, and the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira, to persuade government allies to begin talks with the PTI.

Earlier, former president and PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari urged all political parties to meet and reach an agreement on a single election agenda.
Similarly, the former ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) formed a three-member committee to resolve the ongoing political impasse through dialogue.
The development came after a meeting between PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq at the former prime minister’s residence in Lahore on Saturday last week.
PTI leaders Pervaiz Khattak, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed will meet with Jamaat-e-Islami, according to a statement.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
