The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed a change in the playing conditions for PSL 11, which has been in effect since the opening match. The first match of the tournament was played between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen on Thursday.
The update concerns Nomination and Replacement of Players under Article 1.2 of the PSL 11 Playing Conditions. According to the new rules, each captain can submit two different XI lineups in writing to the match referee before the toss. Each lineup must include 11 players and a maximum of four substitute fielders.
After the toss, the captain must finalize one lineup by signing the selected team sheet. Once the final lineup is confirmed, no player can be changed without the consent of the opposing captain.
The PCB also clarified that no player can be replaced after the Call of Play, except in cases of concussion replacement. This ensures that teams cannot make late changes that could unfairly affect the match.
The primary goal of this adjustment is to minimize the impact of external factors, such as dew, which can give an advantage to one team during either innings. By allowing captains to plan two lineups, the rule provides flexibility while maintaining fairness.
Officials believe the update will help maintain the competitive balance in PSL 11. It gives teams a structured way to prepare for varying match conditions while preventing last-minute changes that could affect the outcome.
This move reflects the PCB’s commitment to ensuring that PSL 11 is played under clear and fair conditions. Players, captains, and match officials now have clear guidelines for lineup submission and player replacements.
