The outgoing government has made a significant administrative change by transferring the control of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) affairs from the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination to the Cabinet Division. Under the leadership of the Naqvi government, this alteration places the cricket governing body directly under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The decision to shift control follows ongoing conflicts between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination. To address these issues, interim Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar facilitated the transfer of the cricket governing body’s affairs to the Cabinet Division.

A notification regarding this development stated that, “In terms of rule 3 of the rules of Business 1973, the Prime Minister has been pleased to transfer the administrative control of PCB from IPC to Cabinet Division.” This effectively means that the administrative control of the Pakistan Cricket Board now falls under the jurisdiction of the Cabinet Division.
It is important to note that while this administrative shift has occurred, the Pakistan Cricket Board remains an autonomous body. Operating under its own constitution, the PCB generates funds independently from its own resources. The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, originally tasked with acting as a bridge between the cricket board and the federal government, will no longer play a direct role in overseeing PCB affairs with this recent administrative change.
This move signifies a strategic adjustment in the organizational structure of cricket administration in Pakistan, potentially aiming to streamline decision-making processes and improve coordination between the cricket governing body and the government at the highest level.
