PCB Plans to Make PSL a Separate Entity After Season 10

PCB Set to Register PSL as a Private Company After Season 10

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is taking significant steps to administratively separate the Pakistan Super League (PSL), with plans underway to register it as a private limited company, revealed Salman Naseer, Chief Commercial Officer of the PSL.

Speaking informally to journalists, Naseer confirmed that the paperwork for the creation of “Pakistan Super League Private Limited” has been completed. A formal announcement is expected after the conclusion of PSL Season 10, which kicked off on April 11, 2025.

This development marks a revival of a long-standing proposal originally approved by the PCB’s governing board in November 2016 under then-PSL chairman Najam Sethi. The proposal had aimed to establish PSL as an independent corporate entity with its own governing board, allowing it to operate autonomously from the PCB. However, legal and administrative hurdles—particularly objections from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and concerns about PCB officials’ roles in a private entity—delayed implementation.

The move is intended to improve the league’s operational efficiency and attract private sector investment. While specifics regarding revenue-sharing, governance structure, and board appointments are yet to be revealed, the initiative has sparked cautious optimism among PSL franchises. Many franchise owners have long called for a clear financial and structural model to ensure transparency and long-term sustainability.

More information on the newly structured PSL is expected once Season 10 concludes.
