[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Najam Sethi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has clarified his position on moving the Asia Cup 2023 to the UAE or any other country.
Speaking to the media, Najam Sethi stated that if Pakistan’s hosting rights were taken away, it would be difficult for the national team to compete in the World Cup 2023.
“Our government will not allow us to play in the upcoming World Cup because their government stopped the BCCI from touring Pakistan for the Asia Cup,” Najam Sethi stated.
The PCB, according to Najam Sethi, has played its part in not complicating cricket relations with the neighbouring country by proposing a two-phase event.

According to Sethi, the event will be held in two stages. The first phase will take place in Pakistan, excluding India, and the second phase will take place in a neutral location.
He stated that all participants, with the exception of India, would play one match in Pakistan, and that all teams, including India, would play their remaining matches in the UAE in the second phase.
“If the hybrid model is accepted for the Asia Cup, it will also apply to the World Cup.” We will play our World Cup matches in Bangladesh or elsewhere, Sethi added.
The proposal was discussed yesterday with all members of the Asian Cricket Council, who will present it to ACC President Jay Shah for a final decision.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
