Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB Chairman) Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi stated on Saturday that the decision on Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup rests with the government.
Speaking at a press conference, the PCB Chairman emphasized that no country can dictate terms to another. He added that the PCB has contingency plans ready and will follow its own stance. However, the final decision will be made by the government.
The PCB Chairman also addressed the ongoing fraud allegations involving players. He noted that no players have contacted the board regarding the issue. The PCB will take action once players brief them about the matter.
Naqvi highlighted that decisions taken by one country should not affect others. He cited Bangladesh as an example, stating that the team must participate in the World Cup under all circumstances.
The PCB is waiting for the Prime Minister’s return to finalize any decisions. Naqvi reiterated that the board remains accountable to the government in addition to the ICC.
In addition to international tournaments, the PCB Chairman shared updates on domestic cricket infrastructure. He said the PCB is working with the Punjab government to improve cricket grounds and upgrade stadium facilities.
Naqvi’s remarks come amid discussions about Bangladesh withdrawing from the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and ongoing concerns regarding the tournament schedule. Pakistan’s participation remains uncertain, but the board will follow government directives.
