PCB Announces Big Changes for Players Ahead of PSL 11

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced major updates for 89 local players ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). 

Five players, including Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Ali, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, and Sahibzada Farhan, were promoted to the Platinum category. Sahibzada Farhan moved from Gold, while others jumped from Diamond. 

The PCB stated that each franchise can now retain a maximum of four players, with only one player per category. After retention, teams will participate in the first-ever PSL Player Auction on February 11. 

Players who remained in the Platinum category from PSL 10 include Shadab Khan, Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Faheem Ashraf, and Mohammad Amir. 

The Diamond category includes 11 players distributed among Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, and Peshawar Zalmi. Mohammad Salman Mirza, Sufyan Moqim, and Mohammad Wasim Jnr moved up from Gold to Diamond this season. 

A total of 32 players were assigned to the gold category. Karachi Kings led with eight players, while Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars have four each. Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators, and Peshawar Zalmi complete the list. 

The Silver category includes emerging talents such as Hunain Shah, Ubaid Shah, Mirza Mamoon Imtiaz, Mohammad Naeem, and Mohammad Azab, who moved up from the Emerging category. Hasan Nawaz was promoted to Gold. 

The Emerging category has 14 players, including members from Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans, and Lahore Qalandars. 

The PCB also provided a team-wise breakdown of local player assignments. Islamabad United features six Platinum players, including Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah, while Karachi Kings’ Platinum player is Hasan Ali. Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators also have key Platinum and Diamond players for the upcoming season. Read the latest update on Pakistan’s participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup announced by PCB. 

These updates highlight the PCB’s focus on balancing experience and emerging talent ahead of PSL 11. Teams will finalize their squads in February, preparing for what promises to be an exciting tournament.
