The PCB has announced new central contracts for 30 Pakistan cricketers. The updated contracts include salary increases for players in Categories C and D. However, Category B players will not receive a pay raise this year.
For the first time since central contracts were introduced, no player was awarded a Category A contract. This decision reflects the team’s recent performances and has sparked discussions among fans and experts.
According to the new pay structure, players in Category C will earn PKR 2.5 million per month. This is an increase of PKR 500,000 from last year’s PKR 2 million. Meanwhile, Category D players will receive PKR 1.5 million monthly, up by PKR 300,000 from PKR 1.2 million. Category B players continue to earn PKR 3 million per month, with no raise this time.
The 30 contracted players are divided equally, with 10 players in each category—B, C, and D. The list includes 12 new players such as Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Haris.
On the other hand, eight players lost their contracts this season. These include Aamir Jamal, Kamran Ghulam, and Usman Khan, all previously in Category D.
The PCB aims to reward a wider group of players with better financial incentives. The board is also focusing on separate squads for different formats, a strategy likely to continue in future contracts.
While some debate the criteria for contract awards, the PCB’s new pay structure shows its effort to support emerging talent and strengthen the team overall.
