[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has changed its mind about allowing a “news website” to sponsor the home series against New Zealand.
On the insistence of the company that owns the rights, the board officials previously rejected other companies that tried to contact them and granted permission to “Dafa News.”
The board has always designated these websites as news sites, but there has recently been an issue with surrogate advertising, in which websites in India that were previously banned changed their names and began advertising in Pakistan.
Mohammad Rizwan, the Multan Sultans’ manager, wore a shirt with a logo printed in a font similar to that of a news website during the final stages of the PSL, which sparked outrage on social media.
Initially, the PCB decided not to enter into any agreements with such websites and released a list of sponsors for the home series against New Zealand that did not include any “news websites.”
According to cricket board sources, they were forced to grant permission to only one company, “Dafa News,” because they had a contract with them, and if they back out, the board will suffer significant losses.
Because logos cannot be displayed on shirts, board officials believe that no cricketer, including Mohammad Rizwan, will object to this decision.
It should be noted that in countries where gambling is legal, a company called “Dafabet” sponsors cricket under the guise of a gaming company, but its logo is strikingly similar to that of “Dafa News.” The PCB opposes surrogate advertising and is taking steps to prevent it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
