Parvez Elahi Hospitalized From Adiala Jail With Chest Pain
PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was transported to a hospital from Adiala jail in Rawalpindi on Saturday after experiencing chest pain, as reported by jail sources. The sources mentioned that Elahi has been admitted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology due to a heart problem, with complaints of chest pain persisting since the previous night.
Additionally, the incarcerated former Punjab chief minister underwent a medical examination within the jail, and it was revealed that he is also suffering from a chest infection.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, entangled in various legal battles, has been in Adiala jail in connection with a case. In the recent past, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a corruption reference amounting to over Rs1 billion against him, his son Moonis Elahi, and others. The reference alleges their involvement in plundering the national treasury and receiving kickbacks.
Earlier in the month, the anti-graft body filed the reference, accusing the father-son duo of embezzlement related to development funds allocated for the Gujrat district. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, a senior leader of PTI, was initially arrested on June 1 in a Rs70 million graft case. Since then, he has been released and re-arrested on multiple occasions in different cases.
