Israeli airstrikes in Rafah’s safe zone killed 50 Palestinians and wounded many more. Although Israel claimed to target a Hamas compound with precision, civilians were casualties. Reports of civilian deaths prompted Jewish forces to review the incident, as they had bombed a tent camp for displaced people in the designated safe zone. The attack in Tal as-Sultan coincided with strikes on shelters in Jabalia, Nuseirat, and Gaza City, resulting in a total of 160 deaths within 24 hours.
Gaza health officials confirmed that women and children were among the victims in the Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood, where thousands sought refuge from Israeli ground offensives. The International Committee of the Red Cross reported a surge in casualties at its field hospital in Rafah, with other medical facilities also inundated with patients.

Despite international condemntion, Israel persisted in its assault, aiming to eliminate Hamas fighters and secure the release of hostages. The ongoing strikes in Rafah and elsewhere have caused significant Palestinian casualties, including civilians, amid challenges to cease the conflict and negotiate hostage releases.
The conflict, sparked by Hamas attacks on Israeli communities in October of the previous year, has wrought widespread destruction and loss of life in Gaza. Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks has reportedly risen to 35,984, according to health authorities.
