Shikarpur – Naseer Soomro, Pakistan’s tallest man, has passed away at the age of 55 after battling lung disease and joint pain for several years.
A Life Marked by Extraordinary Height
Standing at 7 feet 9 inches, Soomro was among the tallest people in the world, earning both national and international recognition. His towering stature made him a symbol of pride for Pakistan and brought the country fame on the global stage.

Health Struggles and Neglect
Soomro, who was employed by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) due to his remarkable height, faced neglect from both the government and his employer in recent years. His health declined significantly, and he struggled with financial difficulties while battling chronic lung disease.
His family reported that he was hospitalized multiple times, yet continued to fight against his worsening condition.
Condolences from Sindh CM
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over Soomro’s passing. He extended condolences to his family and acknowledged his contributions to Pakistan’s global recognition.
Soomro will be laid to rest in his hometown of Shikarpur.
