[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) has decided to halt open heart surgeries after heavy monsoon rains led to sewerage water seeping into the operation theatres.

Dr. Javed Akram, the caretaker health minister, announced the closure of the theatres for a third-party infection audit during a press conference at the PIC.

With seven out of nine operation theatres already closed and only two remaining functional, cardiac patients awaiting surgery are facing significant delays. The closure was prompted by a high infection rate, and the government is actively working to resolve the issue to ensure patient safety.

Two operation theatres at Jinnah Hospitals have been designated to accommodate PIC patients while the situation is being addressed.
