Pakistan’s exports of knitted and crocheted apparel to China have seen an 11% increase in the first five months of 2025, rising to $4.30 million from $3.87 million during the same period last year, according to fresh data released by China Customs.
This growth marks Pakistan’s steady entry into China’s highly competitive mid-range apparel and winter-wear market. Analysts attribute this trend to Pakistan’s improved production capacity in cotton-blended knitwear and its enhanced compliance with Chinese quality and certification standards.

“Exporters have upgraded dyeing and finishing techniques, which align well with Chinese consumers’ demand for durable and comfortable winter wear,” said Mohammad Azhar, a trade analyst based in Lahore.
Most of these exports are routed through China’s eastern coastal provinces, with Jiangsu leading the way by importing over $2.79 million worth of Pakistani knitwear, followed by Zhejiang and Henan. Officials credit Pakistan’s zero-tariff status under Phase II of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement as a key driver of its growing market share.
