Khan was previously nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for his role in fostering peace between Pakistan and India. The Norwegian Nobel Committee evaluates numerous nominations each year, selecting the laureate after an extensive eight-month review.

Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023, currently serving a 14-year sentence following a corruption conviction. This marks his fourth major conviction, though previous cases related to state gifts, classified information leaks, and an unlawful marriage were overturned or suspended.

Despite his incarceration, Khan’s supporters continue to back him, emphasizing his dedication to democratic principles and the empowerment of the Pakistani people.
