Pakistan’s First 2024 Toyota Prius Priced Higher Than Fortuner

Social media has been abuzz with photos of Pakistan’s first 2024 Toyota Prius, capturing the attention of car enthusiasts. However, more than the images, it’s the staggering price of the new Prius that has left many in disbelief.

According to an Instagram user, a Karachi dealership has imported the car, and its price is nearly a jaw-dropping Rs. 20 million (2 crores). To put it in perspective, this cost is just slightly higher than that of a Toyota Fortuner Sigma 4, which is priced at just over Rs. 19 million.

The latest Prius boasts improved aesthetics and performance compared to its predecessor. Its design seems to draw inspiration from modern sports cars, featuring a sleek front end, a sloping roofline, and large wheels.

Equipped with Toyota’s first 2.0-liter Plug-in Hybrid System, the new Prius combines a high-efficiency Dynamic Force Engine with lithium-ion batteries, resulting in an output of 221 horsepower (hp). Toyota claims that this powertrain allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6.7 seconds.

The 2024 Prius is also packed with features like Toyota SafetySense and other intelligent functionalities. Despite these offerings, the car’s price in the international market ranges from Rs. 7.8 million to Rs. 10.2 million.

This significant price difference of almost Rs. 10 million in Pakistan has undoubtedly raised eyebrows and sparked discussions among individuals who are amazed by the premium associated with the new Prius in the country.
