Pakistan’s Reserve Wicketkeeper Haseebullah Ruled Out of West Indies Test Series
The Pakistan cricket team has suffered a blow as reserve wicketkeeper Haseebullah has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against the West Indies due to a hand injury sustained during the tour of South Africa.
The 21-year-old wicketkeeper injured his hand during a practice session when a ball struck him, resulting in stitches and forcing his withdrawal from the two-match Test series.

Haseebullah, who was serving as the backup to primary wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan in the 15-member Test squad, has been a promising addition to Pakistan’s cricketing lineup. He made his international debut earlier this year, playing his first T20I as an opening batsman under Shaheen Shah Afridi’s captaincy in Christchurch on January 21, 2024, followed by his ODI debut under Mohammad Rizwan’s leadership in Bulawayo on November 24, 2024.
Known for his left-handed batting skills, Haseebullah had previously been part of Pakistan’s white-ball squads for the tours of Australia and Zimbabwe, but his role during the South Africa tour was focused on the Test format.
With Haseebullah sidelined, the Pakistan squad is left with Mohammad Rizwan as the only specialist wicketkeeper for the West Indies Test series, creating a gap in the team’s wicketkeeping reserves. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to announce a replacement for Haseebullah.
This setback comes as the team prepares for a crucial series, and the management will now have to rely heavily on Rizwan for both his wicketkeeping and batting roles.
