A Pakistani woman was allegedly sold to a Chinese citizen for Rs1.7 million by another woman under the guise of arranging a marriage.
According to Rawalpindi police, the victim, a resident of Sadiqabad, filed a complaint against a woman named Anaya. She stated that Anaya deceived her by claiming that her parents had died and promised to secure her a marriage with a Chinese man, assuring her that it would change her life for the better.
However, the reality surfaced soon after the marriage when the woman discovered that she had actually been “bought” by the Chinese man for Rs1.7 million.
Three months into the marriage, the victim, who is currently pregnant, requested financial help from her husband for medical treatment. The man allegedly refused and said he had already paid Rs1.7 million for her, and would not spend any more money on her.
The complainant also accused Anaya of running a network that targets impoverished girls and sells them to foreigners under the false promise of marriage. She said Anaya arranged her wedding and took her to Islamabad’s E-11 area where several Chinese nationals were present. It was then she learned that the entire setup was a trafficking scheme, not a real marriage.
When she confronted her husband, he allegedly confirmed that Anaya had been paid Rs1.7 million. After the truth came out, both Anaya and the Chinese husband reportedly vanished, leaving the pregnant woman alone and helpless.
Police have verified the incident and said that a detailed investigation is underway. They assured that legal action will be taken against all those involved. The woman has appealed for justice and strict punishment for Anaya and the Chinese citizens allegedly part of the scheme.
